Tata Motors, the Indian car company which marked its presence on the global map after announcing its one lakh rupee car the Tata Nano, is riding high on the success of the product which continues to be enthusiastically received by the consumers.
The confirmation of the success comes from the company spokesperson and the industry reports which are going gaga about the company!
This comes as a big hit for Hyundai, has been pushed out of its coveted second spot in terms of car manufacturing numbers.
In the June 2010 Tata Motors sold 27, 811 cars whereas Hyundai sold 27, 366 cars in the same month. The production work at the Sanand plant which was built solely for the Nano production is now going on in full swing.
Maruti Suzuki continues lead the sale charts, selling 72,812 cars in June 2010.
The 17.28 percent sales increase is comparatively less for Maruti. This could also be due to the reduction in car sales during the onset of monsoon season.
The Tata Motors sales witnessed 63% sale increase compared to Hyundai’s 19% increment.

Piaggio, the italian automaker, of the three wheeler fame are now all set to launch the famous Vespa scooter in India once again. Vespa was initially launched in India by partnership between Bajaj and Piaggio. This venture failed due to Indira Gandhi's privatization policy, post which Piaggio brought Vespa back once again with LML Motors. Unfortunately this venture too ceased to bring results due to some disputes within the partnership.
However this time, through its wholly owned subsidiary (which is operating in India smoothly, touch wood!) the company is bringing Vespa to India again soon. In a quick conversation with Ravi Chopra, Chairman and Managing Director, Piaggio Vehicles Private Limited, Motoism tried to find out Piaggio’s India plans. He told us, that Piaggio intends to launch the vehicle anytime between 2011 and 2012, as per him the Indian auto market is extremely potent. Honda Aciva is one example.
Piaggio is known for its fuel efficient, quality, and durable products. Its is investing close to 30 million euros in India for its plant which will have a capacity of 1.5 lakh units per annum.
