After the successful debut in the R18 Le Mans racecar, Audi is all set to bring the digital rearview mirror technology into production, and with what better car than the 2013 R8 e-tron?

The rearview mirror in this case, would no longer be a mirror but a 7.7” display AMOLED screen procured from Samsung. An appropriately positioned ultra-lightweight camera would capture real-time images and display on the screen.

‘A control unit produces a consistent high-contrast, brilliant image. During the hours of darkness the intelligent control system prevents dazzle from the headlights of other vehicles’ says Audi.

‘The small, ultra-lightweight camera is located in an aerodynamically optimized housing which is heated in cold temperatures. It uses a lens with a diameter of just a few millimeters and covers a much larger field of vision than a conventional rear-view mirror. A color monitor with a 7.7-inch screen diagonal mounted in place of a conventional rear-view mirror is used to display the digital image data from the camera.’

Audi claims to have test the new system to be effective even in exhaustive race conditions.

The legendary Jaguar F-Type is back again to every motor-head's delight and the official unveiling has been announced at the Paris Auto Show 2012.

Scheduled to be launched as a convertible the new F-Type features 'a choice of three petrol engines: 340PS and 380PS versions of Jaguar’s all-new 3.0-litre supercharged V6, and a new derivative of its existing supercharged 5.0-litre V8. All will drive the rear wheels through an eight-speed transmission and will be equipped with Stop/Start technology.' says an email release.

Bidding farewell to the award winning 2012 R8 V8 and V10 variants in style, Audi today introduced limited edition R8 Exclusive Selection Editions just as its beginning to build attention towards the upcoming 2013 avatar.

Featuring a 4.2-litre FSI V8 and generating 430-bhp, the Exclusive Selection Edition R8 V8 dons a Daytona Gray matte exterior complete with carbon fiber exterior splitter and diffuser, 19” titanium five-arm double spoke wheels, black grille surround, black exhaust finishers, R8 GT tail lamps, and red brake calipers. Inside, the R8 V8 features an exclusive leather package with Crimson Red elements and contrast stitching, exclusive leather Navigation surround, and a thicker contoured leather multifunctional steering wheel for a sportier grip.

Also on the menu is the 2012 Exclusive Selection Edition R8 V10 equipped with a 5.2-liter FSI V10, and producing 525-bhp.

The 2012 Exclusive Selection Edition R8 V10 comes with a shimmering Ibis white exterior and Brilliant Black features – including the sideblade, exterior mirrors, and rear license plate surround – as well as R8 GT tail lamps and 19” bi-color e-tron wheels. Ibis finishes and Alabaster White contrast stitching, as well as a Carbon Fiber monoposto driver’s cockpit, completes the interior, which also features an exclusive leather Navigation surround and contoured steering wheel.

The Selection Edition is available exclusively in USA however and only twenty 2012 Exclusive Selection Edition R8 V8 vehicles and thirty 2012 Exclusive Selection Edition R8 V10 vehicles will be produced.
