BMW, India’s top premium car seller launched the sixth generation of its premium sedan, 3-Series here on 27th July. Dubbed the ULTIMAT3 the new 3-series has been introduced into Sport and Luxury schemes and none other then the informal ambassador for sports in India, Sachin Tendulkar, was present to unveil the SportLine at an exclusive launch event here in Mumbai. Dr. Andreas Schaaf, President, BMW Group India, also present at the event said, “The all-new BMW 3-Series is a vehicle that has an unbeatable profile and is born from pioneering engineering, a beautiful design and a lot of passion”. Visibly standing out from its predecessor the 6th Gen 3-Series “offers unparalleled space and comfort” as describes Dr. Schaaf verbatim. The car is 93mm longer with a 50mm longer wheelbase and bits are added to knee and head- room too. The boot as well grows by 20-litres to 480-litres. Adding to the comfort is the further seven-degree tilted cockpit towards the driver. The exteriors boast of a new pair of headlamps, the best donned ever, with double round headlights that reach the very edge of the kidney grille, and are topped now with ‘eyebrows’. The gadgets get an upgrade too. The BMW i-Drive and BMW Radio Professional now are standard for all versions, while the 320d SportLine and 328i LuxuryPlus get BMW Navigational Professional (integrated GPS) as well. Dr. Schaaf went on to add, “Since its inception the BMW 3-Series has been the undisputable leader in its segment and there is no doubt that the sixth generation of the BMW 3-Series will surpass the magnificent success that its predecessors received. The all-new BMW 3-Series will establish a new benchmark in the Indian luxury car segment and contribute to BMW’s winning streak in India”. Dr. Schaaf, under whose leadership BMW replaced rival Mercedes-Benz as top premium car seller in India, shall not be with us to witness this though as very soon he moves on to another leadership role. |
